For many years, Croham Hurst Good Neighbours (CHGN, registered charity) has been running a weekly, fully accessible shopping bus service taking elderly, vulnerable or mobility-impaired residents living in South Croydon to and from Sainsbury's in Purley Way. Often, the journey would include a tea and coffee break in a cafe.
Due to Coronavirus, the service was temporarily suspended last year during which CHGN have been assisting residents with their shopping needs in other ways. We are currently considering how to reintroduce the service in a way that is safe and viable; until then, our volunteers will assist with personal shopping needs whenever possible. Social outings are taking place every few months as well.
The service is open to anyone; however, we ask that you live in the South Croydon ward (link to map of catchment area below; exceptions considered on a case by case basis). As the service is only partially funded by local government, a small payment to cover the cost of hiring the bus is required.
