For many years, Croham Hurst Good Neighbours (CHGN, registered charity) has been running a weekly, fully accessible shopping bus service taking elderly, vulnerable or mobility-impaired residents living in South Croydon to and from Sainsbury's in Purley Way. Often, the journey would include a tea and coffee break in a cafe.
Due to Coronavirus, the service was temporarily suspended last year during which CHGN have been assisting residents with their shopping needs in other ways. However, in line with the Government's roadmap, the shopping bus service is expected to resume in July, subject to risk assessment, capacity limits and additional cleaning procedures where necessary.
The service is open to anyone; however, we ask that you live in the South Croydon ward (link to map of catchment area below; exceptions considered on a case by case basis). As the service is only partially funded by local government, a small payment to cover the cost of hiring the bus is required.
